The 100th anniversary of the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire is a monumental landmark. It was an event that transformed the American political landscape and it is an event that retains the power to influence another century of labor in a global economy. Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts presented "From the Fire" a new work which honors those who lost their lives at Triangle and commemorates the legacy of social change that it inspired. “From the Fire” is far more than an ephemeral work of art. It honors a century of heroic effort and provides audiences with information about new media tools which keep the fight for justice alive as an essential message for the next generation. ‘From the Fire’ will perform at the Edinburgh Theater Festival in August!

Called the "blueprint for the modern American oratorio," by 60 Minutes, From the Fire is a new work created by the Tony nominated composer, Elizabeth Swados, writer/director, Cecilia Rubino, the poet, Paula Finn, and designed by Bonnie Roche-Bronfman.

From the Fire ran for a week to sold-out audiences during the week of the Triangle Centennial commemorations. This world-premiere run of performances took place at the historic Judson Memorial Church in New York's Greenwhich Village, just a few blocks away from the actual Asch Building, where the Triangle Factory was located in.
